Gaining Momentum When Facing Mindset Blocks

I used to think momentum came from motivation. But the more I built my business as a mom entrepreneur, the more I realized: motivation fades fast when mindset blocks are in the way.

I’d set big goals, map out plans, even get started—but then hit a wall. Perfectionism, self-doubt, and overwhelm would creep in. I wasn’t lazy. I was stuck. And I had to learn how to shift my mindset before I could move forward consistently.

Mindset Block #1: The Perfectionism Freeze

I used to rewrite emails, posts, and product pages for days—wanting every word to be perfect. But the truth is, nothing ever felt ready.

Mindset Shift: Progress over perfection.

Clarity comes through action. Perfectionism keeps you in place, but momentum comes when you launch before you feel 100% ready.

Try This: Set a “good enough to share” standard. Publish that post. Send the email. You’ll learn more by doing than waiting.

Mindset Block #2: Emotional Burnout & Decision Fatigue

Juggling a business, family, and household is no small feat. I remember the season where I couldn’t make one more decision—even choosing dinner felt like too much.

Mindset Shift: Sustainable success requires energy management.

You don’t need to do more. You need to protect your energy so you can show up for what matters.

Try This:
✦ Use the 3D Time Filter: Delete, Delegate, Do.
✦ Choose one Weekly Focus.
✦ Let rest be part of the plan—not a reward.

Mindset Block #3: The “Nothing’s Working” Spiral

Have you ever put in so much effort only to feel like nothing is paying off? I have.
I used to overlook small wins, chasing a huge breakthrough. But that kept me in a cycle of discouragement.

Mindset Shift: Micro-wins lead to momentum.

You’re probably making more progress than you think.

Try This:
✦ Track wins daily in a journal.
✦ Measure what matters: action taken, not just outcomes.
✦ Celebrate the small stuff—it builds big results.

I created the Focus & Flourish Journal to help me notice and celebrate those daily wins. It includes space to brain-dump, plan, and reflect so you can gain clarity and confidence with each day.

How to Overcome Mindset Blocks And Start Gaining Momentum

Once I realized mindset blocks were what slowed me down, I stopped trying to hustle my way through them. Instead, I started working with my mind, not against it.

Here are 3 tools that helped:

1. Use Mindset Reset Triggers

Pair mindset shifts with everyday routines:
✦ Morning: Set an intention with your coffee.
✦ Midday: Reflect after finishing a task.
✦ Evening: Journal one thing you’re proud of.

For more on this, here’s how I use mindset reframing to shift negative thoughts.

2. Implement a Power Hour Strategy

This helps me move forward when I feel scattered:
✦ 20 min mindset work (journal, affirmations)
✦ 20 min needle-moving task
✦ 20 min reset (walk, tea, connection)

3. Anchor Yourself in Self-Trust

At the end of the day, ask yourself:
✦ What did I make progress on?
✦ What challenge did I show up for?
✦ What am I proud of today?

These small reflections rewired my confidence more than any goal tracker ever did.

You’re Closer Than You Think—Keep Moving

Mindset blocks are part of the journey. They don’t mean you’re not cut out for this. They mean you’re growing.

If you’re ready to gain real momentum in your business (and life), it starts with your mindset.
